If you love feeling that chill down your spine, jumping out of your chair with well-constructed scares and losing sleep over a disturbing story, 2025 was made for you.

Horror cinema is more alive than ever - and this year, some releases are already considered the scariest of the decade. If you're ready to get to know the titles that are really making people sleep, prepare your popcorn (and your courage). Here are scariest horror movies of 2025.

At the very beginning of the year, on January 2, director Robert Eggers (of "The Witch" and "The Lighthouse") launched his darkest project to date: "Nosferatu"a reinterpretation of the 1922 classic.

With a gothic aesthetic, intense performances and a dense atmosphere, the movie features Bill Skarsgård in the role of the vampire Count Orlok, and Willem Dafoe in a disturbing role.

The feeling of discomfort is constant. The pace is slow but suffocating. The soundtrack envelops you. And the art direction transports you to a dark and claustrophobic universe.

It's the kind of movie that doesn't scare - it distresses. And that's even scarier.

On January 16, it was the turn of a classic monster to return to the spotlight. "The Werewolf, directed by Leigh Whannell (from "The Invisible Man"), brought a modern, intense and visually striking reinterpretation of the most feared creature of full moon nights.

The protagonist, played by Christopher AbbottHe inherits his missing father's house and begins to experience supernatural phenomena linked to the family curse.

The werewolf's transformation is brutal. The suspense is well-built. And the violence, when it comes, shocks without seeming gratuitous.

For those who enjoy horror with a classic movie feel - but with cutting-edge technology - this is a must-see.

Imagine a childhood toy that carries death. The story follows twins Bill and Hal, who find a toy monkey in the attic of their father's old house. Each time the monkey touches its metal plates... someone dies.

It is directed by Osgood Perkinsand the production is called James Wan - which says a lot.

The atmosphere is sinister. The deaths are unexpected. And the sound of the toy... stays in your head for days.

It's psychological horror with supernatural touches. And yes: it works very well.

After 14 years, the Premonition franchise is back in full swing. And on May 15th, "Blood Ties arrived in theaters promising what the saga has always delivered: bizarre, unpredictable and very creative deaths.

The plot now focuses on a group of young people connected by a dark family heritage - and, of course, by a "death" that doesn't materialize.

As always, you already know that everyone is going to die... but you never know how.

The tension is constant. The suspense works. And the body horror keeps you on edge the whole time.

If you like adrenaline and absurd scenes, you're guaranteed (scary) fun.

The world of the infected is once again terrifying. The plot shows a group of survivors trying to understand a new mutation of the virus - more brutal, faster, more lethal.

The movie has intense action scenes, dirty, realistic photography and a constant feeling of desperation.

It's the kind of apocalyptic horror that leaves you breathless.

The most disturbing doll of the decade is back.

"M3GAN 2.0"released on June 26, continues the saga of the doll with artificial intelligence who starts out as an ally and becomes a threat.

The sequel goes further: it shows how AI can evolve... and rebel.

If the first movie was scary enough, this one is takes the concept to another level.

The terror is not just in the scares, but in the feeling that this could all be real - and soon.

Scheduled for September 5th, "Invocation of Evil 4" brings back cinema's most famous paranormal investigators: Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Based on a new real case, the movie promises more scenes of possession, cursed objects and demonic presence.

The franchise remains strong because it mixes well true story, heavy atmosphere and well-executed scares.

And if you've followed the others, you know: when the Warren's show up, something heavy is coming.

Scheduled for September 25, this is one of the most curious projects of the year.

Directed by Maggie GyllenhaalThe movie revisits the Frankenstein universe, but now focusing on the the monster's fiancée.

The approach is different, feminist, symbolic and very dark. Visually, it's a work of art. The sequel to the success of 2022 arrives on October 16.

"Black Phone 2" continues to explore the mystery of the phone that connects the protagonist to the victims of a serial killer - now with new characters and an even darker plot.

Psychological suspense blends with the supernatural. It's the kind of movie that scares the mind more than the eyes. And that's powerful.

See also: How AI is Changing Mobile Game Creation: The Key Innovations

April 9th, 2025

If you love getting a chill down your spine, jumping out of your chair with well-constructed scares and losing sleep over a disturbing story, 2025 is for you.
